Hello and Welcome. I’m Kate Krake.
I’m an Australian author of magical and otherworldly fiction, writing from Perth, Western Australia.
If you love witches, shifters, fae, and demons, small towns hiding big secrets, fierce friendships, a little romance, and a whole lot of magic, you’re in the right place.
What I Write
Witchy small-town fantasy. My novels are fun-filled, fast-paced contemporary fantasy featuring empowered women, intense friendships, swoony romances, nefarious villains, cool treasure, myths, folklore, and a lot more. Start with the Witch Against Wicked series, or try my standalone novels The Elm Witch and Night Shift at the Shadow Bay Hotel.
Sweet paranormal romance. The Shifter Mates of Fairbright Falls books are sweet and clean shifter romances, with fated mates and guaranteed happily ever afters.
Weird and whimsical short stories. My short fiction explores strange creatures, magic realism, and surreal, dreamlike realities. You’ll find them in Familiar Shadows of the Strange and Creatures of the Liminal Wilds.
I know it’s an eclectic mix of themes and genres to gather under one author name, but that’s who I am, so that’s what I write. Not sure where to begin? Start Here for a map of all my fictional worlds.
A Little About Me
When I’m not writing, I’m typically found wrangling two children (don’t worry, they’re mine), working out, taking epic long walks, cleaning something, listening to something, watching something, reading something, and sleeping. There’s never enough sleeping.
I live in Perth, Australia, with my husband, our two kids, and a beagle named Pepper. We moved here from Brisbane at the end of 2017.
I love weight lifting, running, and long-distance walking. I love sunny spring days, clean linen, tarot, and the smell of sweet basil. I’m addicted to peppermints.
I’m obsessed with Arthurian legend, and I have worshipped Madonna (the music one, not the biblical one) since I was about nine years old.
I am neurodivergent, and I didn’t know that until I was 44 years old.
